Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Protecting your personal data is important to us. This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you use our website and online shop, the purposes of that processing, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data controller

The controller responsible for data processing within the meaning of the GDPR is:

Wohlfühlmöbel Raimund Erler
Raimund Erler
Rettenbergstraße 32
6114 Kolsass
Austria

Telephone: +43 664 4814177
Email: info@wohlfuehlmoebel.at

2. Operation of our online shop through Shopify

Our online shop operates on the Shopify e-commerce platform. The Shopify contracting party generally responsible for merchants in Europe is Shopify International Limited, based in Ireland.

Shopify provides the technical infrastructure for operating our online shop. This may involve processing IP addresses, browser and device information, usage data, contact and customer data, billing and shipping addresses, and order and transaction information.

The data is processed to provide our online shop, fulfil orders, maintain technical security, prevent fraud, and comply with contractual and statutory obligations.

The legal bases include Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract), Article 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligations), and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in operating our online shop securely and reliably).

Shopify may also process personal data as an independent controller in connection with certain services of its own.

Further information is available in Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy.

3. Automatic data collection when you visit the website

When you access our website, technically necessary information is processed. This includes:

  • IP address
  • Date and time of access
  • Pages accessed and resources requested
  • Browser and operating system used
  • Device information and technical connection data

This data is needed to provide our website, ensure its stability and security, and identify technical errors and abusive access.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of our online shop.

4. Contacting us and using the contact form

If you contact us using the contact form, by email or by telephone, we process the information you provide, particularly your name, contact details and the content of your enquiry.

The data is processed to handle your enquiry and communicate with you.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry concerns a contract or steps taken before entering into a contract. In other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The data is generally stored only for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry, unless statutory retention obligations or other lawful grounds require longer storage.

5. Orders and performance of contracts

When you place an order in our online shop, we process the personal data needed to perform the purchase contract.

This may include your first and last name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, telephone number, products ordered, order information, and invoice and payment information.

We use this data to process your order and payment, arrange delivery, issue invoices, provide customer support, and comply with legal obligations.

The legal bases are Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Article 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligations).

6. Sharing data with service providers and processing payments

We use external service providers to provide our online shop and fulfil orders. Personal data is shared only to the extent necessary for the relevant service and legally permitted.

These service providers include Shopify as the provider of our shop infrastructure, PayPal for payment processing, and shipping providers and, where applicable, accounting service providers engaged by us.

Payment processing through PayPal

We offer PayPal for payment processing.

The provider of payment services in the European Economic Area is PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., based in Luxembourg.

If you select PayPal as your payment method, the personal data required to process the payment is transmitted to PayPal. This may include your name, contact details, payment amount, and order and transaction information.

The data is transmitted to perform the purchase contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

PayPal processes personal data as an independent controller.

Further information is available in PayPal's Privacy Statement.

7. Newsletter and Mailchimp

Our website offers the option to subscribe to our email newsletter.

We use Mailchimp to collect and manage newsletter subscriptions. Mailchimp is an email marketing service provided by The Rocket Science Group LLC, an Intuit group company based in the USA.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is transmitted to Mailchimp and stored there.

Depending on the information available, the following data may also be processed:

  • First and last name
  • Postal address, if available
  • Date and source of contact creation
  • Newsletter or marketing status
  • Subscription and confirmation information
  • Contact ratings generated by the system

Subscription uses a double opt-in process, in which the subscription is verified by a confirmation email.

We use the data to manage our newsletter mailing list and, where applicable, to send future information about our products, news and offers.

Processing for sending newsletters is based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Mailchimp's Shopify integration

Mailchimp is connected to our Shopify online shop. Depending on the contact's status and the configuration, this integration may synchronise customer data, newsletter information and, where applicable, related order information.

The automatic import of contacts who have not subscribed to the newsletter, and additional synchronisation of customer events for marketing purposes, have been disabled.

Contact records from earlier synchronisations may still exist in Mailchimp without newsletter consent. These contacts are not used to send promotional newsletters. They are retained only where there is an independent legal basis for doing so.

We do not use an additional Mailchimp Site Tracking Pixel to record browsing behaviour on our website.

Unsubscribing from the newsletter

You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. An unsubscribe link is provided in every newsletter. Alternatively, you can contact us at info@wohlfuehlmoebel.at.

After you withdraw your consent, your contact details are removed from the active newsletter mailing list. Data needed to demonstrate that consent was given or withdrawn may continue to be stored to the extent permitted by law.

Data transfers to the USA

When Mailchimp is used, personal data may be stored and processed in the USA.

Mailchimp relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, where necessary, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for these international data transfers.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to provide essential online shop functions and, subject to appropriate consent, statistically analyse the use of our website.

Technically necessary cookies enable functions such as the shopping cart, order and checkout processes, security features, and the storage of privacy settings.

Analytics and other non-essential technologies may also be used.

Where their use requires consent, that consent is obtained in accordance with section 165(3) of the Telecommunications Act 2021 (TKG 2021). The associated processing of personal data is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Managing cookie consent with Pandectes

We use the Pandectes GDPR Compliance consent management platform to manage cookie consent.

Our cookie banner is configured according to the strict opt-in model. Visitors can use the banner to decide which non-essential cookies and similar technologies they wish to allow.

Pandectes enables visitors to our website to give, manage or withdraw their consent.

The following data may be processed to store and document consent decisions:

  • Anonymised IP address
  • Date and time of the decision
  • URL on which consent was given
  • Anonymous, random identifier
  • Stored consent status

This processing serves to manage consent and fulfil statutory record-keeping obligations under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

You can change your cookie settings at any time and withdraw previously given consent with effect for the future.

To do this, use the cookie settings button in the bottom-left corner of our website.

Further information is available in the Pandectes Privacy Policy.

9. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 on our website, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics enables us to statistically analyse how our website is used and improve our offering.

The following data may be processed:

  • Pages accessed
  • Information about website interactions
  • Browsers and devices used
  • Approximate geographical origin
  • Information about how visitors reached the website
  • Technical identifiers and usage data

This processing serves to measure reach, perform statistical analysis and improve our online shop.

We obtain your consent through our consent management system for processing analytics data that requires consent and for using the corresponding cookies or similar technologies.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with section 165(3) TKG 2021.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future using the cookie settings button in the bottom-left corner of our website.

In connection with Google Analytics, data may be processed by Google companies outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are carried out in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.

Further information is available at:

10. Instagram and Instafeed

Our website displays content from our Instagram profile @wohlfuehlmoebel.

We use the Instafeed Shopify app provided by Mintt Studio for this purpose.

This integration allows us to display Instagram posts directly on our homepage and give visitors an insight into our products and work.

When a page containing Instafeed is accessed, technically necessary requests are sent to Mintt Studio's infrastructure. This may involve transmitting your IP address and information about your browser and device.

According to the provider, Instafeed itself does not set cookies. However, displaying Instagram content may result in additional requests to Instagram.

The operator of Instagram for users in the European Economic Area is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Where the processing of technically necessary access data is based on our legitimate interest in presenting our products and work, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where individual processing activities require consent, processing is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Further information is available at:

11. External links and social media

Our website may contain links to external websites and social networks, particularly Instagram.

The mere presence of a normal external link does not establish a connection to the linked website. Only when you follow such a link do you leave our website and become subject to the respective provider's privacy policy.

This is distinct from content embedded on our website, such as the Instagram feed displayed through Instafeed, whose data processing is described in the previous section.

12. Transfers of personal data to third countries

The use of Shopify, Google Analytics, Mailchimp and other service providers may involve processing personal data outside the European Economic Area.

Where such transfers take place, they comply with the applicable data protection requirements.

Appropriate bases may include European Commission adequacy decisions, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for appropriately certified companies, or appropriate safeguards under Article 46 GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

13. Retention periods

We generally retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant processing purpose or as required by statutory retention obligations.

In Austria, tax-relevant business documents, invoices and records are generally subject to a statutory retention period of seven years. Longer periods may be required in certain cases.

Data from contact enquiries is deleted when it is no longer needed to handle the enquiry and there is no other lawful basis for further storage.

Newsletter data is generally processed until consent is withdrawn or the relevant purpose ends. Legally required evidence and suppression records may be retained beyond that point.

Data processed by external service providers is also subject to the respective applicable retention rules and contractual arrangements.

14. Data security

Our website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection with TLS (Transport Layer Security).

This protects information transmitted between your browser and our website against unauthorised interception during transmission.

We also use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, making use of our service providers' security features.

15. Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, your rights under the GDPR include:

  • Right of access (Article 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Article 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Article 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object to certain processing (Article 21 GDPR)
  • Right to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Article 7(3) GDPR)

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@wohlfuehlmoebel.at.

If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.
